In manual mode, the vehicle operates like a conventional sweeper. In autonomous mode, the vehicle performs cleaning tasks independently within designated operating areas. This allows the sweeper to operate for extended periods without a driver, reducing reliance on operator availability and enabling significantly longer cleaning cycles. The sweeper can operate fully autonomously, performing scheduled cleaning runs, charging, water refilling, and material discharge automatically.

The Bucher CityCat VR17ae is equipped with a redundant brake-by-wire system. It ensures optimal control and safe braking in both autonomous and manual operation modes, providing confidence in every maneuver. Equipped with cameras, 3D Lidars, safety radars, and ultrasonic sensors, the vehicle detects obstacles, pedestrians, and vehicles in every direction. Sensor fusion combines all inputs into a single real-time perception layer, enabling reliable detection and supporting safe stopping.

3D mapping and route management

The vehicle localizes itself using a 3D map of the environment created with onboard Lidar sensors. Operators can generate new maps simply by driving the vehicle through the area once. Cleaning routes can then be edited, scheduled and monitored via a web interface, providing full control over autonomous operations and real-time fleet visibility.
